'Designated Survivor' Season 1 Episode 13 Spoilers: Leak Brings Chaos to the White House in 'Backfire'
The synopsis for ABC's newest political drama series, "Designated Survivor" has just been released and things are still not looking up for the White House anytime soon.
In the upcoming episode titled "Backfire," the government will be up against the press when an investigative journalist leaks classified information during a press briefing. This will leave Seth (Kal Penn) busy as he struggles to contain the damage brought about by the leaked story.
All of this will happen in the midst of Hannah's (Maggie Q) continuing investigation into the conspiracy that has already once put President Kirkman's (Kiefer Sutherland) life in jeopardy. Her efforts will lead to unearthing a key connection that leads to the late MacLeish (Ashley Zukerman) as a possible conspirator. Will the threat on the American government finally be put to rest, or will this only be the tail end of a much bigger conspiracy?
The official trailer reveals that the aforementioned leak will be about Vice President MacLeish's shocking death in the hands of his own wife, who also subsequently shot herself. President Kirkman is well aware of the panic that this kind of news can bring to the public, and is, therefore, determined to find out who has leaked information about this unfortunate turn of events.
In the midst of dealing with a conspiracy threatening everyone in the White House, the president and his staff will now have to add another problem on their plate: that is, explaining to the public how the vice president and his wife have turned up dead.
Additionally, MacLeish's death could also bring Hannah's investigation to a standstill as they may have just lost the biggest lead they had. And with one of the suspected antagonists now gone, who's setting up to take his place? And will he pose a much bigger threat to Kirkman's presidency and his life?
"Designated Survivor" season 1 episode 13 airs on Wednesday, March 22 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
