'Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris' DLC Rumor: Thorn Not Coming After All, But Many Familiar Faces Will

Gamers were convinced that they saw the infamous hand cannon Thorn in the reveal trailer for "Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris," but it looks like they are bound to be disappointed.

Fans who have scrutinized the clip believe that they saw a glimpse of the exotic weapon apparently being held by a Hunter jumping over with the bright sun in the background.

However, Game Rant points out that the weapon in question in the "Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris" trailer while it looks much like the Thorn from a distance, looks a lot less like it upon a closer look.

The publication says that the supposed firearm is more of a mini-bayonet if anything. In fact, it resembles the Iron Banner weapon Lingering Song although they believe that it is not that weapon either.

Game Rant adds that the "Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris" weapon might be an energy weapon hand cannon like the Annual Skate but with a bayonet on the bottom of the barrel. It is likely inspired from the Red Death pulse rifle.

For now, there is no official word on what this weapon will be but fans should not count on it being the Thorn hand gun. Whether it will be a new one or not remains to be seen.

"Curse of Osiris" will be the first major expansion for "Destiny 2" and will allow players to explore Mercury on a mission to find the exiled Warlock Osiris and battle the Vex that controls the Infinite Forest via a simulated reality.

Another location called Wormhaven will be added exclusively in the PlayStation 4 (PS4). Of source, there will be new quests, missions and adventures to experience as well as a new Strike and new Raid content.

As the name of the downloadable content (DLC) suggests, Osiris will be a central character in this expansion, but it will also add three more characters including his ghost Sagira who will serve as their guide. Brother Vance will also be part of the action.

"Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris" will be available on Dec. 5.
