'Destiny 2' System Requirements Needed to Play Game Announced By Bungie
"Destiny 2" has been out for some time for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since the game launched for consoles on Sep. 6. Now, Bungie is turning its attention to the upcoming PC version launch of the game, starting by confirming the final PC hardware requirements.
In its weekly "Destiny" series update, Bungie has announced, among other things, preparations for the PC launch of "Destiny 2" around the globe. The developer started by confirming the unlock time for the PC version, with starts at 1 p.m. EDT on Oct. 24 worldwide.
Live times for major cities vary as a result, with Los Angeles getting "Destiny 2" unlocked at 10 a.m. in the morning, while over in Sydney, that would be 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
PC Hardware requirements were the same from what was first announced in late July, back when Bungie was rolling out the "Destiny 2" beta for Windows PCs, as Polygon notes. The game needs a 64-bit version of one of Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 to run, as well as 68 GB of free storage space to accommodate the installation.
Minimum specs start from low to mid-range dual-core chips, as Bungie specified that players need any of the 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3-3250, the 3.5 GHz Intel Pentium G4560, or the AMD 4.2 GhzFX-4350 or similar. "Destiny 2" can, at the very least, make do with any one of the following: a 2 GB GeForce GTX 660, a 2 GB GTX 1050 or a 2 GB Radeon HD 7850.
To support advanced visual features, including 60 FPS 4K resolution as shown in a pre-beta footage, Bungie recommends no less than quad-core CPUs like the 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5-2400, the 3.5 GHz Core i5-7400 or the AMD 3.6GHz Ryzen R5 1600X.
Video cards recommended by the developer include the 4 GB GeForce GTX 970, the 6 GB GeForce GTX 1060 or the 8 GB Radeon R9 390. Better specs translate to better performance, with Bungie recommending at least 6 GB to 8 GB of memory to match.
The video below shows in-game shots of "Destiny 2" that's more or less comparable to what can be seen with high-end PC builds. the PC version of the final game will be launching on Tuesday, Oct. 24, and unlocks at 1 p.m. EDT for those who already have it pre-installed.
