'Destiny 2' News: No Halloween-Themed 'Festival of the Lost' Scheduled for This Year

First 'Destiny 2' event will be 'The Dawning'

With Halloween-themed events all the rage right now for numerous video games, "Destiny 2" players may be wondering about when they may be getting their own spooky holiday.

After all, the original "Destiny" got the "Festival of the Lost," so why wouldn't that event just go live again for the sequel?

As it turns out, the festival is not set to go live anytime soon, and the developers recently explained why that was the case.

Replying to a fan over on Twitter who asked about the "Festival of the Lost," Bungie community manager "DeeJ" noted that Season 1 of the game was "about launch and ritual activation."

The game has not been out for that long, so it is no surprise that the developers are still applying some tweaks here and there.

Quite a few fans have expressed their disappointment over the Halloween-themed event not being scheduled for this year.

Previous editions of the event allowed players to take on special quests and acquire Halloween-themed items such as emotes and masks. It is no surprise that fans of the franchise want to see those again, and while they are not getting the festival this year, there may still be hope that it will go live in 2018 or in later years, as "DeeJ" hinted.

Though there will be no "Festival of the Lost" coming this year, there is still an upcoming event that "Destiny 2" players can look forward to.

The event in question is "The Dawning," and players can expect that the Farm and the Tower will look different while this event is active, Polygon reported. Players will also be able to take part in minigames during "The Dawning" and some special items will be made available as well.

More news about "Destiny 2" and the events that its players will be able to take part in should be made available in the near future.
