'Destiny 2' Prestige Raid Cleared an Hour After Launch; Clan Redeem Exploited a Glitch?
"Destiny 2" designed their first Prestige Raid as a grueling event reserved for the top fire teams, and the top clans gladly took up the challenge. Maybe they did so too eagerly, it seems, as a team puts away the final boss barely an hour after the raid went live on Thursday, 1. p.m. EDT.
The first Prestige Raid for "Destiny 2" went up Thursday noon for the East Coast, and by past 2 p.m., it has already been cleared. A team of speedrunners made short work of the raid in just an hour and six minutes, as Polygon reports.
The "Destiny 2" team from Bungie was in the scene to award the world first, which they have to pay close attention to given the exploit that has held back the launch of the event. Just an hour and a few minutes past launch, Bungie was already typing out their announcement message for the world first.
"Congratulations to Clan Redeem for being World First to complete the Prestige Raid... by a margin of only four minutes! Good Game," Bungie wrote in a Twitter post congratulating the first team to have cleared the raid.
Clan Redeem had their top team working on the harder Leviathan Raid event, with Swatcicle, Modern Tryhard, Ehroaar, I Indica I, Senior Snubby and Gladd working together to clear all the fights.
Another team almost beat them to it, too, according to Bungie, with the next fastest group clearing the raid just four minutes behind. This could be with some help of an exploit called "coil glitching," as other players pointed out later.
This exploit, which Clan Redeem player Swatcicle was spotted calling out in the middle of their Prestige Raid run, recharges a power weapon instantly. Bungie is looking out for the so-called "Calus glitch," another exploit that is said to stop enemy waves from spawning during the last boss, and might have been too busy to notice.
As such, Bungie community manager Cozmo23 announced that they are leaving it to spectators to determine which of the top three teams had a legitimate clear of the raid.
"We have seen the reports that an ammo exploit was used today in the Prestige Raid," the representative wrote. "This was not the specific exploit we were checking for and we don't currently have the ability to detect it. Tomorrow we will release the top 3 finishers in the TWAB," he added.
"You can make your own decision as to who should be celebrated," he concluded his post.
