'Destiny 2' Release Date News: Game Still on Track for 2017
It looks like "Destiny 2" will make it this year after all, despite the rumors about the highly anticipated first-person shooter sequel being delayed to 2018.
This was confirmed by Activision in its latest investor call. One of the slides from the presentation shown at the event provided details on what the studio has planned.
"Full Destiny sequel in 2017 to broaden the franchise's global reach, which along with follow-on content plans, sets the stage for growth," the description for "Destiny 2" reads.

Jason Schreier of Kotaku, who previously provided details on "Destiny 2," also suggested in his report that there is no way Bungie will delay the game to next year.
"If Bungie misses this year for Destiny 2, Activision is awarded a hefty chunk of the independent studio's stock, according to two sources familiar with goings-on at Bungie," he wrote.
"Bungie employees' stock vesting schedule is also based on game releases, including Destiny 2, which gives them major incentives to get the sequel out this year," he went on to say.
This means that Bungie is expected to release new "Destiny" content this fall, a release pattern that the developer has followed for the first game and the two downloadable content (DLC) packs, namely "The Taken King" and "Rise of Iron."
Forbes pointed out how the latter's release was made initially to fill in for the original launch of "Destiny 2" after it was delayed. This time, however, Activision wants the sequel to arrive this year.
This should put the worries of fans to rest about the game being delayed. "Destiny 2" is deemed one of the most anticipated games of the year.
As to what the game will be about, Activision said, as quoted by Forbes, that the development of the game is "going great." The company added that "Destiny 2" will feature a "cinematic story and relatable characters."
