'Destiny' Emotes Include 'Hotline Bling,' 'Napoleon Dynamite' Dances

Bungie's update 2.1.1 brought two new "Destiny" emotes, which have been likened to Drake's dance in "Hotline Bling" and the "Napoleon Dynamite" dance. These new emotes are part of the game's February update that brought with it the customary fixes and a Valentine's Day-themed event and items.

There are five brand-new emotes available to players. These are Strange Dance, Awkward Dance, Secret Greeting, Charm, and Fist Bump. While the last three are relatively "tame," Strange Dance and Awkward Dance are something else.

YouTuber Arekkz Gaming showed off the new emotes in a video. In the video below, "Destiny" players can clearly see that the dances have been inspired by pop culture. The Strange Dance, for example, features Drake's dance moves from his hit single "Hotline Bling." Meanwhile, the Awkward Dance took some steps from the famous dance scene in 2004's "Napoleon Dynamite."

Bungie has been growing its roster of emotes, which are a great way to spice up communication between players. Those interested can get the new emotes at the Eververse Store. They are available for a limited time.

In addition to the new emotes, the latest "Destiny" update also brought with it the Valentine's Day event called Crimson Days, a new Crucible mode, new quests, and other goodies.

New freelance playlists were also added. Freelance 3v3 includes Skirmish, Salvage, and Elimination. Freelance 6v6 features Control, Clash, and Rift. These playlists are available to solo players only and have Inferno versions as well.

Going back to the new lighthearted emotes, some industry followers think they are "nice distractions" to the seemingly lack of fresh content in the game's Year 2. In contrast, Year 1 kept the "Destiny" community happy, but the game's current state has resulted in some players losing interest in it. This discontent with the current state of "Destiny's" add-on content has been spurred further by rumors of "Destiny 2's" release date getting delayed. That doesn't negate how fun the dances are, but players are hoping Bungie will let them in on its plans for the franchise, especially the much-awaited "Destiny" sequel.
