'Destiny: The Taken King' DLC Update News Latest: Event-Based Updates Instead of DLC?
Following the massive success of "Destiny: The Taken King", Bungie has some news for the millions of fans who have been waiting for fresh content, specifically for a DLC expansion, but the news may not be what everyone wanted.
Players have been expecting Bungie to come up with new content this month and while most fans are looking forward to a DLC expansion, Eurogamer reports that there won't be anything about DLC in the upcoming content that the company will release.
Senior designer Derek Carroll has said there's something else that Bungie is planning for "Year Two" and that is an expansion that features event-based models.
"With Taken King we are moving to a more event-based model - things like Festival of the Lost and Sparrow racing, which is our winter event, and then smaller events such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris every weekend," Carroll says.
He also adds that the team came up with the idea to give everyone who owns Taken King a chance to enjoy the new content, instead of giving something to players than only some can obtain.
When asked why Bungie decided to go for such a change, Carroll went on to explain that one of the key reasons that made the team opt for the event-based change is because they have always been aiming to provide surprising content that players didn't expect to get from the start.
The change comes as a total surprise to fans who have been requesting for a DLC expansion and while the new plan might be unexpected, fans will no doubt quickly get on board with the developments.
