'Destiny: The Taken King' news: 'Issues' in the expansion, as reviewed by gaming experts
As "The Taken King" continues to excite players and watchers alike, especially with the coming of the new item "Three of Coins," some gaming experts have also released their insights about the expansion.
While most of the reviews have nothing but good things to say about "The Taken King," some outlets have also decided to be honest and lay out their observations and what makes the expansion somehow just like the rest, despite its amazing rankings and dramatic improvement from the launch seen a year ago.
According to Paul Tassi of Forbes, he has surely enjoyed the game but noticed a few issues that the game still has to endure, such as his discovery after playing hardcore for about a week that completing the new "Raid" is still the only way to reach the higher limit of leveling up.
Tassi pointed out in his review that The Raid is still largely inaccessible to many players as it forces players to use third-party grouping sites to find teammates. He also noticed that "a lot of content is being left behind," noting that Trials of Orisis has completely been eliminated without nothing to replace it, and Prison of Elders has become useless.
According to Tassi, the expansion's release has made it harder to play "Destiny" effectively as a solo player, noting that there are some activities best run without partners. However, the game is harder to manage without a team.
Finally, Tassi said the story is somehow short of great since players are required to hunt around Grimoire before they discover the real deal behind Oryx's story and why he's "taking" all the soldiers, as well as the King's ultimate goal is still unknown.
Meanwhile, Mike Mahardy of Game Spot looked at the fact that the game requires "so much grinding and yet it doesn't have the breadth of content to support the repetition required." While more loot is promised to players, the quest becomes kind of "uninteresting" as the quest turns a into long lists of chores.
