'Destiny' To Get Free Quest & Missions For A Year, Microtransactions Also Coming
Game developer Bungie is planning to correct some things with the "Destiny" games that went wrong last year. Foremost is a substantially reimagined DLC plan for Year 2 that started with release of "Destiny: The Taken King" in September of this year. The plan also includes giving out free story content every few months for a year.
According to Kotaku, Bungie "is planning on giving out quests and missions for free." They will continue to do so every few months upto Autumn 2016. The DLC is in the planning stage but there are rumours that "Destiny" will be having the new currency of games – the microtransactions.
For games like "Destiny," microtransactions are necessary for trading and also serves as a bridge to the next updates. Though with "Destiny," the DLC will be a paid one and can be traded only for some limited "cosmetic items like emotes, dance moves and sparrow skins." This is for the online first person shooter as later confirmed by Bungie.
Bungie had given out big expansion plans and missions for free previously to counter the complaint that the previous "Destiny" games were short on content. This time, Bungie has created a very large content for "Destiny: The Taken King" and will continue to refresh the game for a year by releasing updates in small packets. This could start soon, maybe from next month itself.
Launching on October 13, the microtransactions from the Eververse Trading Company will be traded by the game's character, Tess Everis who "will offer eighteen brand new emotes." The updates will also have "Silver," an in-game currency that can be purchased on the PSN & Xbox Live Stores.
Bungie's website explained about their plans to gamers, saying, "Our plan is to use these new items to bolster the service provided by our live team for another full year, as they grow and create more robust and engaging events that we'll announce later this year. It has been, and continues to be, our goal to deliver updates to the game. Going forward, our live team is also looking to grow beyond vital updates and improvements to focus on world events, experiences, and feature requests."
"Destiny" game's next paid expansion of $60 is most definitely coming after a year in 2016 and will be titled, "Destiny 2."
