'Destiny's' April Free Update Detailed
Online shooter game "Destiny" is getting its biggest update since its last DLC, "The Taken King" and the good thing about this update is that it is totally free. According to a report in Tech Times, developer Bungie shared the details of the upcoming update through a Twitch livestream. The update arrives on April 12.
Players however need to have installed "The Taken King" DLC in order for them to get the update which is called Patch 2.2.0. The update is bringing many new things to the game, including new events, more loot, a new end-game activity, new sets of armor, and the comeback of some of Year One's legendary weapons. A report in VG 24/7 detailed what is in store for "Destiny" gamers.
According to the report, new challenges are waiting for players. There will be two new strikes, the Blighted Chalice strike and the Winters Run strike which will have the players go up against Taken-themed bosses such as a hulk called a Malok and an Archon Priest. The new end-game activity that will be introduced is the Challenge of the Elders, which is said to be the one of the ways players can achieve the new Light cap of 335.
In terms of rewards, the update is bringing with it five new sets of armor – three of which are "revamped faction sets" while the rest are new sets of armor. One of them called the Desolate set is Taken-themed, while the other is the Spektar Armor which is for use with the new Chroma customization system for the game. Aside from armor, a new consumable called Sterling Treasure will also be introduced. This treasure will allow the use of Chroma to customize weapons and armor as well as bring new armor pieces. Chroma is the customization system that Bungie thought of, which allows color shading to weapons and armor. Color choices are blue, red, white and yellow.
Another report in Games Radar cited another additional feature that the update will provide. Bungie shared that come April 12, the rate of earning faction reputation will greatly improve. Faction reputation is important as it helps players get special rewards from various vendors found in the Tower.
