'Destiny's' Golgoroth Challenge Is Now Live: King's Fall Raid Second Boss Challenge Details and Rewards

Among the many things going on this week for "Destiny: The Taken King" developer Bungie, the King's Fall Raid Golgoroth challenge is among the most-highlighted event in the community.

Golgoroth is the second boss challenge in the King's Fall Raid, which started with The Warpriest and will end with Oryx. The Golgoroth challenge went live as Tuesday's reset came around, as was expected.

Players who have successfully completed the challenge reveal that the mechanic to defeat Golgoroth is pretty much the same (i.e., one player needs to hold his gaze while the rest of the team drop an orb, stand in the water, and shoot at his belly.) The difference for this challenge, however, is that all members of the team must be able to hold his gaze at least once during every damage phase.

As The Warpriest challenge was mostly taken by players as too easy, Bungie had previously teased Golgoroth as a more difficult challenge and that seemed to have been the case. Still, some players thought more could have been done to ramp it up, with Chris Carter of Destructoid saying Bungie could have added an extra mini-boss or something new. As to the number of orbs used, some are saying six orbs should be used, while others say they've defeated the boss using less than that number of orbs.

Despite seemingly lacking the difficulty players wanted, the challenge does offer some pretty good rewards. Once Golgoroth has been defeated, players get 310 loot on Normal mode, 320 loot on Hard mode, an emblem, and a Calcified Fragment, according to GamingBolt.

In addition to the King's Fall Raid Golgoroth challenge, Bungie has also started rolling out Update 2.1.0, as well as kick-started its three-week racing tournament, the Sparrow Racing League.

The King's Fall Raid is an expansion pack for "Destiny: The Taken King." The game itself is available for Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, as well as Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360.
