Details for 'Game of Thrones' Season 6, Episode 9 and the Trailer: Spoilers for 'Battle of Bastards', Promises Biggest Fight Scene Yet
The 'Battle of the Bastards' comes to a boiling point
Season 6 of the HBO hit series "Game of Thrones" is quickly winding down with episode 9 about to premiere. Expectations are high for this episode as one of the important storylines seems to be coming to a dramatic conclusion.
Warning: Spoiler Alert
As many know John Snow and his sister Sansa Stark will be leading a ragtag army to take back their home of Winterfell which is currently being held by Ramsay Bolton. However will the army that the Starks have put together be enough to retake Winterfell?
Biggest Battle So Far
Stylistically the battle will be the biggest battle "Game of Thrones" has ever filmed. Reports have surfaced that the battle required 600 extra crew members, 500 extra actors, 70 horses and an 25 days to film. The battle itself took 25 days to film and will have some of the grittiest fight scenes yet.
Miguel Sapochick, who also filmed the Battle of Hardhome, states that they wanted to do a lot more strategic battlefield maneuvers which the crew could not carry in the previous seasons due to budgetary constraints.
Who will Side with the Starks?
As seen throughout the season, Sansa and John Snow have had a difficult time finding banner men to take up arms with them. Currently the majority of their force is made up of Wildings. As it stands it does not look like the Stark army will stand a chance against the Bolton forces.
However one saving grace could be that the Knights of the Valle will come and fight alongside the Starks as Sansa has already sent a letter to Littlefinger asking for aid. However will it come in time is the biggest question.
Who lives and who dies?
When talking about the "Game of Thrones" dying is always a hot topic. Obviously whoever wins the battle will survive but who actually wins? As seen in the trailer John is saying to Malisandre that if he loses and dies not to bring him back to life. So it seems that John is very much prepared to die.
The teaser also shows a possible duel between John Snow and Ramsay. Many believe if it would come down to a fight between the two that John Snow with his superior training and better sword would win the fight eventually.
Sansa's involvement
Sansa stands at the head of the Stark forces, but will she be forced to fight alongside her soldiers? Sansa is in no way a trained fighter and has gone through so many traumatic events in her life leading up to this point.
While it is doubtful that Sansa will actually fight in the battle, her place is more as a beacon of hope while John leads the charge.
Game of Thrones season 6 episode 9 premieres June 19 only on HBO.
