'Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter' Blu-ray/DVD Release Date News: Second Most Successful 'Conan' Movie Comes to Home Video
The 2017 Japanese anime film "Meitantei Conan: Kara Kurenai no Love Letter (Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter)" is going to be released on Blu-ray and DVD in October. This is the 21st installment in the "Detective Conan" movie series, and it was first released last April 15 in Japan.
In the movie, the titular character Conan Edogawa, works on a case involving a bombing incident at the Nichiuri TV in autumn. The bombing happened just when the Satsuki Cup was being filmed there, causing a huge commotion. The Satsuki Cup celebrates excellence in competitive karuta, which is a kind of Japanese card game, organized by Japan's Ogura Hyakunin Isshu.
The boy detective, Conan, rushed to the scene and was able to save Heiji and Kazuha. As it turns out, Kazuha was supposed to compete with a certain Momiji — Kyoto High School's Karuta champion and Heiji's fiancée.
Moreover, a murder has also just happened in a Japanese house in Arashiyama, involving the reigning Satsuki Cup champion, and crime scene photos both suggest and reveal Momiji's presence there based on the Karuta cards spread out around the lifeless victim.
It is up to Conan and Heiji, with help from both the Osaka and Kyoto police departments, to get to the bottom of these doubtlessly connected incidents. However, as they go deeper into the workings of the Satsuki Cup, they will also discover a secret connected with the Hyakunin Isshu tournament itself.
The movie is directed by Kobun Shizuno and written by Takahiro Okura. It is based on a manga series of the same name created by Gosho Aoyama.
Additionally, the movie has reportedly earned about 5.82 billion yen in its five weeks, making it the second most successful title in the "Detective Conan" movie series next to the 20th installment titled, "The Darkest Nightmare," which earned 6.33 billion back in 2016.
"Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter's" Blu-ray and DVD rollout is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 14. The movie will come in first pressed limited edition as well as the normal edition for both formats.
