Did Miley Cyrus get what she wanted after her MTV Video Music Awards stint?
It is clear that Miley Cyrus does not care if people would think badly of her. In the last MTV Video Music Awards, she wore almost to nothing, and got in a fight with Nicki Minaj. Angry parents lashed back after her accidental nip slip, and Fortune even reported that many of her critics said her career is now over.
One of her critics, Emily Yosida, wrote a long rant to the VMA host at The Verge. The writer said that Cyrus has just ruined her own career, and MTV helped her by allowing Cyrus to do what she did at the show. She also called Cyrus as "the rich girl whose birthday party everyone's parents forced them to go to… as irrelevant as the post-credits bumper for whatever scripted MTV show is on tonight that you've already forgotten the name of."
Although people considered the "new" Miley Cyrus as "trashy" and "attention-starved brat," it cannot be denied that she is still one of the world's most famous headliners. In 2013's VMA, she got people talking about her again when she dry-humped Robin Thicke in a performance, thus giving birth to the phrase "Twerking like Miley." People can't help but search for the latest news about her, even if the "Wrecking Ball" singer just talks about smoking pots or posting nude selfies on her Instagram account. This kind of publicity is what "Team Miley" keeps running these days and most likely what she's after.
And whether people would love or hate her, Miley Cyrus got people crazy about her again, and will not lose sleep of what they think of her. In fact, in her interview with Jimmy Kimmel before her VMA hosting stint, she said that she would rather be naked and be a good person than wearing a shirt (to please people) and be mean.
