Disney's 'Cinderella' Releases Official Trailer (VIDEO)

The trailer for Disney's live action "Cinderella" has been released, and the classic children's story proves to be as magical as ever as within the first 24 hours, the trailer was viewed 4.2 million times on Youtube and 33 million times on Facebook. This is the biggest showing in history for a Disney movie, excluding Marvel releases.

While "Cinderella" has been rebooted several times over the past years with Whitney Houston and Brandy's musical version, and Drew Barrymore's "Ever After" getting critical acclaim for its depiction of a stronger and more independent lead character, the 2015 version is staying true to the original story, but with subtle changes.

The latest "Cinderella" version keeps most of the story intact— the heroine is still maltreated by her stepmother and her equally vindictive stepsisters, and she still has to leave the ball at the stroke of midnight. And of course, her magical transformation aided by her fairy godmother is one of the scenes that can be viewed in the trailer.

Instead of beginning the story where Cinderella is slaving away, viewers get to meet her parents played by Hayley Atwell and Ben Chaplin, and later it is revealed that Cinderella is a cruel twist of her real name— Ella. Also in this version, Cinderella does not meet the prince for the first time at the ball, but she encounters him in the woods before meeting again at the palace.

The new "Cinderella" movie will make its debut close to the 65th anniversary of the original Disney animated version, which premiered on February 15, 1950. The upcoming film stars "Game of Thrones" actor Richard Madden as Prince Charming, "Downton Abbey" actress Lily James as Cinderella, and Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother. The movie is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

"Cinderella" will premiere on March 13, 2015.
