'Doctor Strange' Cast News Latest: Mads Mikkelsen Has Started Rehearsing for Mystery Role
Marvel was said to be taking a huge risk with "Doctor Strange" but it seems that it's not too risky after all as "Hannibal" star Mads Mikkelsen talks about what he thinks of his mystery role in the upcoming "dark" superhero movie.
"Doctor Strange" is Marvel's first attempt to present a whole new side of being a superhero. The movie is looking to open the windows of dark power into a superhero world that fans have known to be full of light and color. It will totally deviate from the exciting life of "Iron Man" or the right path that "Captain America" has led for many years.
According to Cinema Blend, producer Stephen Broussard sees the movie as a "mind-trip action film" and while it sounds weird to some, it actually means that fans will have their minds opened to the world of other realms and universes, instead of keep themselves within the bounds of reality that the human world dictates.
Meanwhile, Mikkelsen seems very excited with his character. It is unclear what particular role he will take on but rumor has it that he will most likely be the main antagonist. If he turns out to be the antagonist, he will be sparring against Benedict Cumberbatch, who will play the lead role.
In an interview with Collider, Mikkelsen said s finds the cast "quite amazing," adding that he is looking forward to the time when he starts working with the entire cast. He has only started doing rehearsals so far. "One of these days, I'll have my first shooting day. But, it looks like it's off to a good start," he said.
When asked about his role, the actor said he can't say anything just yet but he said he and director Scott Derrickson already talked about it. "We had a nice meeting," he said.
Along with Mikkelsen and Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor have been cast for the movie.
"Doctor Strange" is expected to release sometime in 2016.
