'Doctor Strange' Movie News: Filming of Movie Finished
There is no stopping the "Doctor Strange" movie from hitting the theaters on Nov. 4, 2016 as the director of the firlm starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Scott Derrickson, tweeted a photo of him holding a "Doctor Strange" comic book, captioning it with "that's a wrap," an indirect announcement that the movie has already completed its filming.
Apart from Cumberbatch, "Doctor Strange" also stars Tilda Swinston as The Ancient One. Originally, The Ancient One is an old man who comes from Tibet. However, it is speculated that the reason behind Marvel's move to turn the character to a Caucasian female is to ensure that the movie's commercial success will not be affected as China is one big market for Marvel movies. It is believed that the Chinese audience may not like the idea of having a Tibetan character in the movie, and it may affect the movie's box-office performance.
"Doctor Strange" also features Benedict Wong as the doctor's loyal servant Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor's as Baron Mordo. Mads Mikkelsen's also plays the role of an unnamed villain. Other actors included in "Doctor Strange" are Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Scott Adkins, and Amy Landecker.
It is speculated that the "Doctor Strange" movie will tackle the backstory of the character. In the comic book version of "Doctor Strange," he is a cocky surgeon who resorted to the use of magic after failing to heal himself following an accident in the course of performing a surgery. It is when he discovers the existence of mystical arts, paving the way for him to be dubbed as the Sorcerer Supreme.
"Doctor Strange" is penned by Jon Spaiths and helmed by Derrickson.
Meanwhile, there are reports saying that there is a possibility for the Doctor Strange character to be included in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." Unconfirmed reports claim that the sequel of "Guardians of Galaxy" will welcome a new character, Ayesha, which will be played by Elizabeth Debicki. In the comic books, the creators of Ayesha, the Enclaves, seek the help of Doctor Strange to stop their creation from further developing while inside her growth cocoon. However, all their efforts end in smoke as Ayesha continues to grow into a full-grown female.
