Doctor Strange Trailer Is Out; A Look at Marvel's Latest Hero Flick

Marvel is keeping itself quite busy these days with super hero films here and there. So far, Deadpool has had the best figures, although that won't last long when Captain America: Civil War (Marvel Studios) and X-Men: Apocalypse (Fox) are released in the summer.

But lurking behind the shadows of those expected blockbusters is Doctor Strange, a fitting title to a hero who might well be the most ambiguous of all Marvel characters. However, his story isn't really unfamiliar, especially to comic book fanatics.

The reason why this upcoming movie is generating buzz is because it recently released its first trailer via Jimmy Kimmel Live!; and probably the most interesting thing about the film is that it won't be having the usual charisma of a superhero or the out-of-this-world powers inherent in traditional Marvel stories.

English actor Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing the lead character of Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. He is one of those who aren't really mainstream, but does exist in Marvel's universe. So who is he, really?

According to The Verge, Doctor Strange was a character created by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee for Marvel back in 1963. He was supposed to be a very skilled surgeon, but an unfortunate car accident crippled his hands, eventually ending his career. The story gets a little more interesting when he took every possible measure to find a treatment to bring him back to normal, eventually leading him to Tibet. He then met the Ancient One who taught him stuff like sorcery. He transformed himself by turning his back to conventional medical practices and instead became the Sorcerer Supreme, which the comic's version describes as the master of magic and mysticism.

But just like any other film portraying a Marvel character, there will always be some tweaks and changes. This one's no different, obviously.

Doctor Strange is scheduled to be released on November 4.
