'Doctor Who' Cast News, Update: Jenna Coleman To Quit the BBC 1 Series (Again)?
Rumors pointing out to the reported exit of star Jenna Coleman in the cult-classic TV series "Doctor Who" has once again surfaced this week, but this time, there may be some solid truth ringing to it.
Citing reports from across the multiple media outlets including TVLine, it is said that the actress who currently plays the part of the 12th Doctor's companion, Clara Oswald, will reportedly be making her last appearance in the ninth series.
As first perpetrated by UK's Daily Mirror website, the English actress will be trading off the Tardis, the space-hopping, and all the mystical aspects of "Doctor Who" to play the historical part of a British monarch.
According to the tabloid, the soap star will play as the "frumpy 18-year-old" Queen Victoria in the multimillion ITV drama project.
Sources hinted, according to the Mirror, that "Jenna clinched the role of Victoria a while ago but it's been a very closely guarded secret."
"There is a lot of excitement about this series, which has Sunday night written all over it," the insider said about the reported eight-part small screen epic which was written by novelist Daisy Goodwin.
It was meanwhile indicated that the 29-year-old, who has been on the show for three years – considered to be the longest-serving assistant since the show's 2005 reboot, has already wrapped up her final scenes for the BBC 1 series.
Mirror went on to quote Coleman's Radio Times' interview when she was asked as for how long she meant to stay in "Doctor Who."
Her answers are quite a bit suggestive when she said that "You're in Doctor Who knowing it will never last. It's constantly regenerating, so you want to make your time count and enjoy the adventure for the fleeting time you're here."
BBC is yet to release an official statement of the casting development.
For the meantime, Coleman is slated to appear in "Doctor Who" Series 9 which premieres this September 19 on BBC 1.
Stay tuned for more updates.
