'Doctor Who' Christmas Special News: Peter Capaldi On His Character and Final Moments on the Show

With a few days left before the Christmas special of "Doctor Who" is scheduled to air, twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi had a few things to share about his character and how he pushed to change one of his last few moments on the show.

In an interview with FanSided, Capaldi reminisced his time as the twelfth Doctor to control the T.A.R.D.I.S. and travel through space and time. He revealed that one of the biggest challenges of the role was to make the Doctor seem not human so as to establish that impenetrable alien that he had going for him. However, the task was not as easy as he thought it would be as the script would give a lot of jokes and gags.

Another challenge that Capaldi encountered was keeping the character fresh, especially since "Doctor Who" has a lot of seasons since it first premiered. Furthermore, Capaldi expressed his excitement of being just a "Doctor Who" fans and shared that he was looking forward to what the new Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, will bring to the franchise and decades-old TV series. Aside from talking about his character and his experiences, Capaldi revealed that he was behind one of the changes that were made in the upcoming Christmas special.

"We're all very concerned about how the Twelfth Doctor leaves us," Capaldi said, as reported by Radio Times. "We're hypersensitive about trying to make it the best we possibly can. I had sort of expressed a little discomfort about one of the scenes leading towards the end – and he rewrote it. He [Steven Moffat] rewrote it completely, and quite brilliantly, overnight. Which is fantastic. The downside is I had to learn it overnight!"

Departing show runner and episode writer Moffat was apparently accommodating to the opinions of Capaldi, which the actor greatly appreciated. Given the teasers that he released, fans are now understandable excited for the Christmas special.

The "Doctor Who" Christmas special is scheduled to air on Dec. 25.
