'Doctor Who' Christmas Special Updates: New and Familiar Faces Return
Even though the most recent season of "Doctor Who" has yet to air, fans are already looking forward to this year's Christmas special.
Fans of the hit BBC series "Doctor Who" have been waiting to hear more news about the upcoming season of the series. "Doctor Who" Season 9 ended just a couple of months ago, leaving fans heartbroken when Jenna Coleman made her departure for the show.
However, it seems as though a familiar face will be returning to the hit series during this year's Christmas special episode. According to Radio Times, a former actor of the series teased his appearance in the upcoming episode.
John Barrowman, who played the role of Captain Jack Harkness in previous episodes of "Doctor Who," shared an interesting hint about a future project during a book signing. He said, "I'll be back in Cardiff in about a week and a half. But I'm not telling you what for."
With that, fans speculated that Barrowman will be joining the cast of "Doctor Who" in a couple of weeks. Reports indicated that the production team of the series will begin filming the "Doctor Who" Christmas special. However, there has yet to be any confirmation regarding Barrowman's involvement in the upcoming season of "Doctor Who."
Aside from the rumors of Barrowman's return, fans are also anticipating the introduction of the Time Lord's new companion. It was recently confirmed that Pearl Mackie will be the companion of Peter Capaldi's character in the new season.
As reported by Telegraph, the actress expressed her excitement for her upcoming premiere in "Doctor Who." She said, ""I'm incredibly excited to be joining the Doctor Who family. It's such an extraordinary British institution, I couldn't be prouder to call the TARDIS my home! Peter is such a brilliant actor, and his Doctor is such a wacky and wonderful character. I can't wait to see what adventures are in store for him and Bill throughout time and space."
"Doctor Who" Season 10 is expected to premiere sometime in 2017.
