'Doctor Who' Season 10 Plot and Cast News: Mondasian Cybermen, Ice Warriors to Return Next Season
Peter Capaldi's titular character will deal with a classic villain yet again in the 10th season of "Doctor Who." It has been confirmed recently that the Mondasian Cybermen will be back to face Doctor Who.
In the series, the Mondasian Cybermen are among the Doctor's favorite enemies. The original version of the Mondasian Cybermen come from the planet Mondas and have not appeared in "Doctor Who" for more than five decades.
According to reports, the villains will reappear in episodes 11 and 12 of season 10 to join the other characters, including Matt Lucas as Nardole, Michelle Gomez as Missy, and Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts.
Before confirming their return, showrunner Mark Gatiss had revealed that the upcoming season would also see the return of the Ice Warriors to the sci-fi series after not appearing for half a decade. Recently, Gatiss posted on the official website of the series, "Good evening, it's time to welcome back some old friends."
"I'm bringing back the Ice Warriors again, one of my favorite monsters. It's a thrill a minute. A sort of Bank Holiday Monday feel, the kind of Jules Verne, Edgar Rice Burroughs story of derring-do, which I've always loved," he said.
Gatiss also revealed that the return of the Ice Warriors would have a new twist. "There is a new Ice Warrior in it, a new kind of Ice Warrior," he teased.
Meanwhile, Steven Moffat confirmed that "Doctor Who" season 10 is still shooting. Filming locations for the upcoming season include Cardiff, South Wales, Valencia, Spain and Bristol.
As for its plot, Peter Capaldi previously revealed that season 10 will take the Doctor to the forefront of the cosmic battlefield against his most awful adversary just yet.
"Doctor Who" season 10 premieres on Saturday, April 15 on BBC1.
