'Doctor Who' Season 10 Release Date, News: New Trailer Features Old Enemies, First Glimpse of Pearl Mackie As New Companion
BBC America has unveiled the official trailer for "Doctor Who" season 10, featuring the Time Lord's (Peter Capaldi) old and new enemies. The trailer reveals that the new season will include emoji robots, a gigantic sea creature and familiar foes like Daleks and the Cybermen.
The 60-second trailer shows the Doctor traveling to places like Mars and Egypt and going back to year 1814, only to come across some of his old enemies. The clip also confirms the return of Matt Lucas as Nardole and offers the first glimpse of Pearl Mackie as the Time Lord's new companion, Bill Potts. She is set to take over the Doctor's former sidekick, Jenna Coleman.
Shortly after the release of the trailer, fans of "Doctor Who" took to social media to express their excitement about the new season. On Twitter, one fan said, "I feel faint," while another posted, "I'M SOOOOO HYPED LIKE SOOOO HYPED FOR THIS."

"Doctor Who" season 10 will be the last installment starring Capaldi as the Time Lord. The actor is set to leave the show after the 2017 Christmas special, alongside the show's current director, Steven Moffat. It was previously announced that Chris Chibnall will take Moffat's place as the new showrunner.
Meanwhile, the synopsis for season 10 reads: "This is the gateway to everything that ever was or ever can be. This is 'Doctor Who' Season 10. Get ready to have the time of your life with the Doctor, Bill and Nardole... The Doctor is an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who travels through all of time and space in his TARDIS with his companion. Instead of dying, the Doctor is able to 'regenerate' into a new body, taking on a new personality with each regeneration."
Titled "The Pilot," the premiere episode of "Doctor Who" season 10 is set to air on Saturday, April 15 at 9 p.m. EDT on BBC America.
