'Doctor Who' Season 11 News: On the New Cast Regulars and the Thirteenth Doctor

"Doctor Who" has amassed quite the following in the years since it was first premiered. The BBC series has gone through a lot of plot twists and different doctors and companions in the same iconic TARDIS.

Recent reports have revealed that fans can expect a lot from the upcoming "Doctor Who" season 11, as the series has cast the Thirteenth Doctor, as well as new cast regulars that is expected to help preserve everything that the BBC series stands for.

Although most fans are aware that this will be the first time that the much-loved doctor will be a woman in the form of actress Jodie Whittaker, she will be joined by a new cast.

"Coronation Street" actor Bradley Walsh will be portraying a character named Graham, "Shelter" actor Tosin Cole as Ryan, and "Hollyoaks" actress Mandip Gill as Yasmin. Furthermore, "Holby City" actress Sharon D. Clarke will also be returning to the series for her role. Meanwhile, "Broadchurch" Chris Chibnall will be standing as the new executive producer and head writer of "Doctor Who" season 11.

"Black and white made it very scary for a youngster like myself. I was petrified, but even though I'd watch most of it from behind the sofa through my fingers, I became a fan," said actor Walsh, as reported by BBC. "I then queued up for ages to get into the Carlton picture house in Watford to watch the great Peter Cushing appear as the Doctor in a full-length feature film made in glorious color. Am I thrilled to be part of this whole groundbreaking new dawn for the Doctor? Oh yes!"

Considering that this is the first time that the series will introduce a female Time Lord in the form of Whittaker, fans are thrilled and excited to see how "Doctor Who" season 11 will pan out. It is facing a lot of expectations, especially since Peter Capaldi, who plays the Twelfth Doctor, is set to depart during the Christmas special scheduled to air during the holiday season.

"Doctor Who" season 11 is expected to air during Fall 2018 on BBC America.
