'Doctor Who' Season 9: Fans Want Maisie Williams to Join the Doctor
"Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams is expected to bring in an exciting story for the upcoming episode of "Doctor Who."
The actress made her debut as a viking named Ashildre in the previous episode of the series titled "The Girl Who Died." It was revealed that she was revived by the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, and blessed with immortality, along with the power for giving immortality to others.
Teasers for the upcoming episode showed Williams in a new attire. Instead of being dressed as a viking, Williams was seen as a bandit with a pistol. Several other teasers released showed her dressed in an ornate and royal outfit. With that, it was said that the episode will explore the many lifetimes that Williams' character has lived.
The synopsis for the upcoming episode reads, "The deadly Highwayman 'The Nightmare' and his sidekick stalk the dark streets of London. But when they find loot that's not of this world, they come face to face with The Doctor. Who is the Nightmare in league with? And can the Doctor avoid the hangman's noose and protect Earth from a devilish betrayal?"
It was reported that Maisie Williams had an enjoyable time working on the series. She commended the cast and crew of the series, happy to be working on what she calls "an iconic series."
It also seems that fans enjoyed her appearance on the series. A fan had asked her on her Twitter account, "Could your character be [his] new companion when @Jenna_Coleman_ leaves?", Another tweet read, "You should be the Doctors [sic] new assistant".
As an indirect response, Williams tweeted, "Thank you for all your kind words for @bbcdoctorwho 'The Girl Who Died'. I'm glad you enjoyed watching it as much as I enjoyed shooting it."
"Doctor Who" plays on BBC One every Saturday.
