'Doctor Who' season 9 spoilers: Gear up for an out-of-this-world season
Last season, the smash series "Doctor Who" ended in an action-packed haze. The Doctor finally faced off against his arch nemesis The Master who, as it turned out, was actually Missy. Clara spent most of the season in turmoil as she ended up choosing Danny. Danny made the ultimate sacrifice for everyone, while The Doctor killed Missy himself, in order to spare Clara from becoming a killer.
The new season will begin with a two-part episode. The first part is titled "The Magician's Apprentice," and the second part is titled "The Witch's Familiar." The synopsis for the second part reads, trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire; no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help. With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist? And will there be mercy?
Actor Peter Capaldi, who plays The Doctor, will reprise his role in the upcoming season. He spoke about what's next for his character. He mentioned that The Doctor is hungry for adventure and is throwing himself into life. "He's in pursuit of joy and grabbing every thrill that he can along the way. But I sense him running from something, that even he does not yet understand," he said.

He added that there will be an epic sweep to the season that will be reflected in the villains and monsters that will be seen on the show. He also described a photo from the set that depicts a cataclysmic mistake that his character will make.
Meanwhile, actress Jenna Coleman, who plays Clara, said that the season will be more adrenaline fueled and rompy as the characters start to seize the moment. She alluded to some thought-provoking episodes that are relevant.
Actress Maisie Williams, who is best known as Arya Stark in the hit series "Game of Thrones," will guest star in the brand-new season. The young actress is excited to be part of the series. Reece Shearsmith will also guest star in an episode.
The forthcoming season will see the return of some fan favorites like River Song, Osgood, and Missy. The season has begun filming already and the show will return on Sept. 19 in the United Kingdom.
