'Doctor Who' Series 9 Episode 9 Spoilers: The 12th, Clara On The Run; Cast Member Talks About Co-Star's Exit
The ninth season of BBC's fan-favorite science fiction drama TV series "Doctor Who" will return this week with an episode that is rooted to be one of the most terrifying yet in the series.
Titled "Sleep No More," the spoiler report from International Business Times said that fans will find the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and his ever trusty companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), having an adventure in a space station. And just as expected, this trip will take a turn for the worse.
The synopsis cited by the media outlet says that "this terrifying story is assembled from footage discovered in the wreckage of Le Verrier Space Station." It can be assumed that this particular episode of the show will be inspired by the "found footage" themes of popular horror films like "Paranormal Activity."
The promo video, also shared by IBT, shows just how scary this episode is expected to be. In the clip is a scientist who appears to be in distress about something and tells those who might have found the footage not to watch it as there are things in it that can never be unseen.
True to what is described, the next scenes find the 12th and Clara running for safety as a slew of ghastly creatures follow their trails.
Providing more detail about the episode, a second trailer teased that the people manning the space station have been using something called Morpheus. The thing apparently allows users to go on without the need for sleep. Needless to say, ignoring this basic human necessity puts a toll on one's body.
"Congratulations, professor. You have created an abomination," the 12th said in the clip.
On the casting side of things, fans of the series should enjoy the remaining moments that Clara will be in the series. As learned, the character played by Coleman will be off by the end of the season.
Capaldi, during an interview (via Franchiseherald.com) tells Whovians to "get lots of hankies ready" as Clara's eventual exit is expected to be a heartbreaking one.
As to how the companion will leave Doctor Who, it remains to be seen.
For the meantime, "Doctor Who" Series 9 airs every Saturdays at 9 p.m. on BBC America.
