'Dominion' Season 3 Cancelled, Fans Express Reactions
Fans of the post-apocalyptic drama "Dominion" will have to say goodbye to the show now as reports say that it has not been renewed for season three. According to Cinema Blend, Syfy has cancelled the fantasy drama leaving followers of the show hanging after the events of the season two finale.
The series, which is based on the 2010 film "Legion," is about a world where angels and humans battle for good and evil. It is set 25 years after the events of the film and picks up in the upshot of a tragic war between an army of angels and mankind that has changed the world.
It first arrived on television in 2014 and ended its second season last Oct. 1, 2015. And because there will be no continuation to the story, there will be no happy ending for Alex Lannon and the residents of Vega. Fans will not be able to see more about the Lucifer story line, which many were looking forward to.
In a report by Design & Trend, the reason why the network has decided to cancel the TV series is because of the decreasing viewership. Ratings went down to an average of 47 percent between the second season and the first season. In the finale, it only drew 721,000 viewers, as noted in Examiner.
Syfy also issued a statement acknowledging the tremendous job of the people involved in the show, which is led by Vaun Wilmott. It then went on to express their gratitude to them saying, "We thank them, as well as our producing partners Universal Cable Productions, Bold Films and Film Afrika," said Syfy.
However, several fans were not happy at all about the show's cancellation. Many expressed their disappointment over social media. Some were even angry and wished that another network would take over the series. The major cliffhangers were just unacceptable to them. There were those who claimed to boycott the network.
Twitter user @BryDeborah wrote, "Cancelling a brilliant, loved show like #Dominion on cliffhangers? No possibility for closure? I'm walking away; goodbye @SyfyTV"
