'Doom' Open Beta and DLC Details Announced

The reboot of the game series "Doom" developed by Id Software will be going on open beta starting April 15, according to an IGN report. The game will also be receiving additional content after its launch, which includes free DLC as well as three paid expansion packs. The game's Season Pass details were also announced by the game's publisher, Bethesda.

According to the report, the open beta will start at 12 a.m. EST or 5 a.m. BST on April 15. It will end at 11:59 EST on April 17, or 4:59 a.m. BST on April 18. Being an open beta, those who want to join do not need a code to participate. The beta will still be focused on the game's multi-player modes, which include Team Deathmatch and Warpath and will be set in two maps, Heatwave and Infernal.

Engadget cited other features of the open beta such as it being available on all platforms, namely PS4, Xbox One and Windows PCs. Aside from the map and game mode details, the report also cited that players in the open beta will have one demon to invoke.

On Bethesda's official site for the game, it also announced a new component of the game which is called SnapMap, a community-driven tool that allows the creation of content and sharing of content among community members. Through SnapMap, id Software will also offer free content such as map modules, props, objects, AI enhancements, editing tool enhancements among others. New game modes for the game's multiplayer will also be provided for free.

Players can expect three paid expansion packs, the first of which will be arriving in summer. It will bring three new maps, one new weapon, one new armor set, one new playable demon, one new piece of equipment, among others. Each DLC pack will sell for $14.99 while a Season Pass will cost only $39.99.
