'Dota 2: Dueling Fates' News: New Characters, Gameplay Changes and Features Detailed in Latest Update

"Dueling Fates," the much-awaited update for "Dota 2" that introduces the two new characters teased from last August, is now officially live.

Official details about these two additions to the roster have been revealed as well. The Puss-in-Boots-type character is named Donté Panlin and is dubbed "the finest warrior in the world." The official description for the character reads:

The men and women that make up the Nivan Gallants live a life of swordplay, chandelier swinging, and tawdry romance. And while all adhere to their creed that "A life of adventure is the only life worth living," the exploits of still manage to raise the eyebrows of even the most hedonistic of swordsmen.

There is no monster he won't slay. No creature he won't woo. No tyrant he won't stand against. And no noble immune to his silver tongue.

The new "Dota 2" character has the Swashbuckle ability in which he can assault enemies with multiple quick thrusts and Shield Crash in which he jumps in the air and slams back to the ground dealing damage to the opponents around him.

He also has the Heartpiercer ability in which he can slow the target and negate the enemy armor and finally, the Rolling Thunder, where he transforms into a magic-immune ball and charges through eneies to deal damage and stun them.

The second "Dota 2: Dueling Fates" character is named Mireska Sunbreeze, a "spiteful jerk" of a fairy who is extremely derided in her world because of her mischievousness.

Born to a fae merchant king, Mireska grew up in Revtel; a cutthroat nation where manipulation and murder were the norm. But while she was quite adept at navigating the etiquette, unspoken laws, and social rituals that permeated every element of her life, she found the whole thing rather boring. So, Mireska did what most rebellious children do: burn down her family estate and set off with her pet wisp Jex to live the life of a wandering grifter.

Unlike the Pangolier character, this "Dota 2: Dueling Fates" character has five abilities including the Bramble Maze, in which she whips up a maze of brambles that latch onto enemies, and the Shadow Realm, in which she becomes untargetable while increasing her next attack.

She can also stun enemies with a cursed fae crown, and get the help of Jex by having her companion deal damage to nearby enemies. In another ability called Terrorize, she can have Jex strike fear into opponents, who will be sent running toward their home fountain.

"Dota 2: Dueling Fates" will also add a whole host of new gameplay features and tweaks such as a new Turbo Mode and a change in the matchmaking system, all of which can be read here.
