'Dota 2' The International 2017: Finals Set for Aug. 7–12; Ticket Sale Starts April 5
Valve has finally offered some interesting details on the upcoming International 'Dota 2' Championship.
The game publisher confirmed that the finals will take place at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington, and will run from Aug. 7 through Aug. 12. A week prior to the championship games, The International 2017's group stage will take place.
As for the ticket prices, Valve announced that they have gone up again from last year and that the tickets for Monday–Thursday events will be sold separately from the tickets for the grand finals, which will take place on Friday and Saturday.
"Dota" enthusiasts who plan on participating in the event can buy tickets for Monday–Thursday for $100, which is $25 pricier than the tickets last year. On the other hand, ticket prices for the grand finals on Friday and Saturday will be sold for $200, up by $100 from its price in 2016.
Selling of tickets for the upcoming event will start on Tuesday, April 4, at 1 p.m. EDT. Another sale is scheduled on Wednesday, April 5 at 1 a.m. EDT for fans in North America and the rest of the world. Fans can buy tickets through Ticketmaster.
Meanwhile, the game publisher has yet to announce details of the 2017 Battle Pass. This includes lots of micro-transaction items, the sales of which help in generating The International's prize pool. In 2016, Valve allocated 25 percent of the sales from Battle Pass to the prize pool, amounting to $20,770.46. That was the largest prize pool ever made in the history of the tournament.
Last year's International Dota Championship was won by Wings Gaming, who bagged a total of $9.1 million in the grand finals. Coming in second after the finals was Digital Chaos. This year, more top-notch gaming giants from different parts of the world are expected to compete for millions of dollars in prize money.
