Dr. Who Says Maisie's Character Is Cosmic In Oct. 17 Episode Of 'Doctor Who'
Maisie Williams will be appearing in the Season 9 two-parter of "Doctor Who." She will be seen in "The Girl Who Died" followed by "The Woman Who Lived."
The official synopsis of the episode titled, 'The Girl Who Died' is as follows: "Captured by Vikings, the Doctor and Clara must help protect their village from Space Warriors from the future: the Mire. Outnumbered and outgunned, their fate seems inevitable. So why is the Doctor preoccupied with a single Viking girl?"
Viewers already knew that "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams will be a part of Season Nine of "Doctor Who" and according to the synopsis above, they can speculate that Maisie Williams is the Viking Girl.
As Arya Stark on "Game of Thrones," her performance continued to amaze viewers each season. They practically saw her grow up during "Game of Thrones" and they would have thought that her performance on the show would have wowed the show creators of "Doctor Who." But "Doctor Who" show execs Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin said that it was her performance as Casey, a teenager forced to follow instructions from a hacker in the 2015 TV movie "Cyberbully" that finalized her part in "Doctor Who."
Minchin was particularly astonished by her range of acting and said, "If someone can take 80 minutes of screen time and tell a story like that and take you with them, then that is really extraordinary."
Both Peter Capaldi and Moffat were struck by a compelling quality of Maisie – she could easily resonate to the young and old themes in the series and fitted in beautifully.
When asked how he would describe Maisie's role in the upcoming episodes, Capaldi said, "I don't want to give away too much about what she does, but what I would say is she is quite 'cosmic' really. She's not quite what she seems."
Moffat too echoed Capaldi's words and said, "There's a very unique, interesting young/old quality there that just fitted in beautifully with what we were looking for. But beyond that, you'll have to watch and see."
'The Girl Who Died' episode of "Doctor Who" airs on October 17 on BBC America.
