'Dragon Age' News: Director Mike Laidlaw Announces Exit; No New Installment?

Beginning last year, game developer BioWare has been losing some of their most valuable employees. "Dragon Age" writer David Gaider and general manager Aaryn Flynn has exited the company, and recent reports have indicated that "Dragon Age" creative director Mike Laidlaw has announced his departure from the company. Although there are many things to look forward to from BioWare, the news of Laidlaw's exit has disappointed a lot of fans.

"It's with a mix of emotions that I'm announcing my time with BioWare has ended. After 14 years, it's time to move on," "Dragon Age" director Laidlaw said in a statement he posted on his Twitter account. "In my time at BioWare I have been lucky to work with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry. It's been an honor to be a part of the Dragon Age team, and I have every confidence that the world we've created is in good hands. I'm excited for the road ahead."

Laidlaw further says that he will be spending the near future reconnecting with the games that his friends and colleagues developed in the time when he brought "Dragon Age" to life. Furthermore, he ended his statement by saying that he is looking forward to next adventures with his fans. Although this can mean that he will make a comeback as a game developer some day, no official word has been released.

Laidlaw's announcement came as a shock for many, especially since there have been rumors of the next "Dragon Age" that it is already in development. Meanwhile, reports reveal that fans of "Dragon Age" will not have to worry as a new installment is on its way, this time from executive producer Mark Darrah.

Laidlaw is best known for his work for popular game titles, such as "Dragon Age" and "Jade Empire."
