'Dragon Ball FighterZ' Roster News, Release Date: Never-Before-Seen Character to Be Added

Apart from fan-favorites, the roster of the highly anticipated "Dragon Ball FighterZ" will also include a new character designed by "Dragon Ball" creator Akira Toriyama.

This new character is called Android 21, a long-haired and bespectacled scientist. The information comes from a Japanese magazine picked up by Saiyan Island.

The new character will play a crucial role in the original story mode of "Dragon Ball FighterZ," which tells the story of the resurrection of Android 16.

The same magazine also reveals that Yamcha and Tien will also be playable in the highly anticipated fighting game, with Chaozu added as a support-only character.

There is no word yet on how the support-only character will function in "Dragon Ball FighterZ," which will allow players to engage in a three-versus-three battle in which they can train and master more than one fighter or battle style for deeper gameplay.

Saiyan Island speculates that characters like Chaozu will be on standby during the match and will be ready to switch places with one of the three main players in the middle of it. For now, however, nothing is set in stone yet.

As for Yamcha's addition, many are glad that he will be part of "Dragon Ball FighterZ" especially after missing out on an appearance in the ongoing Universe Survival saga in the hit anime "Dragon Ball Super."

Yamcha, Tien and Android 21 join Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu, Trunks, Piccolo, Krillin, Android 18 and Android 16. A gameplay trailer for Frieza was recently released by Bandai Namco Entertainment, showing what the intergalactic tyrant has to offer in the battlefield.

Meanwhile, the studio also shared the respective controls that fans would want to master in playing "Dragon Ball FighterZ" may it be on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

With regard to a possible Nintendo Switch version, fans hope that the success of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" in the console will lead Bandai Namco to release its upcoming game in the platform as well.

"Dragon Ball FighterZ" will be out early 2018.
