'Dragon Ball Super' news: Critics call animation amateur
Critics have been negatively responding to the animation of the "Dragon Ball Super" series.
It was reported by Forbes that both Western and Asian viewers of the series felt as if the animation level is not up to par with today's criteria. Critics also mentioned that the animation looks like it was made by amateur animators. In defense, the animator of the series, Henry Thurlow, explained that labor artists and animators work almost 10 hours, 6 days a week, in order to produce one episode. Their conditions are the reason for the poorly produced animations.
Nevertheless, creator of the series Akira Toriyama continues to support Dragon Ball Super, despite the budget constraints that arose with the production. It remains a popular anime show with the roster of characters.
The upcoming episode of Dragon Ball Super is titled "Sorry About the Wait, Beerus-sama – Finally, Super Saiyan God is Born!" It is expected to introduce a new character named Champa, a humanoid alien cat.
In the previous episode titled "How Dare You Hit My Bulma! Vegeta's Furious Mutation?!" Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, Android 18, and Gotenks were challenged by Lord Beerus during a birthday party. This forced Goku to join the battle instead of Vegeta against Beerus.
Dragon Ball Super is a series that continues the story of Majin Buu. Toriyama stated, "It's got a bit of post-battle aftermath, continues with the 'Battle of Gods' arc where the God of Destruction Beerus appears and the 'Resurrection F' arc where Freiza comes back to life, and then, I've written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe. They're fighting against their neighbors, Universe 6! They'll yell at me if I give away too many spoilers, so I'll keep the rest a secret, but they're chasing after giant Super Dragon Balls; I think things will unfold in a bright and simple way, that will be really fun and exciting!"
Dragon Ball Super episode 8 will be shown on Aug. 30.
