'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' Rumors: Alleged Screenshot Points to Release Date

Rumors have emerged pointing to a release date for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" based on a screenshot that's been leaked online.

While prevailing news pegs continuous expansion support for Dimps and Bandai Namco's "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" fighting video game, speculations a sequel may be in the works stemmed from a screenshot indicating a June 2016 release date.

"Dragon Ball XV" was initially launched for PC, PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles in February this year, featuring 3D battle arenas based on the "Dragon Ball" universe.

With 2.5 million copies of the game shipped as of April this year, "Dragon Ball XV" was rated PlayStation 4's second best-selling game for February, just behind Techland and Warner Bros.' "Dying Light."

Since its launch, Dimps and Bandai Namco have kept expansion pack support going with three DLC releases in March, April, and June, with the expectation that more downloadable content will be forthcoming before the year ends.

Late last month, Spanish gaming website Areajugones posted what appears to be a screenshot showing a PS4 exclusive release of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" slated for June 2016.

It is possible the screenshot may have been faked, pending confirmation from Dimps and Bandai Namco, and a number of fans have pointed out the PlayStation Network logo seen on the screenshot is an old logo used by Sony.

One NeoGAF user also indicated the comma between the month and the year in the screenshot's release date, which appears to be an unusual typo in Sony's normally meticulous promotion material, raising doubts of the screenshot's legitimacy.

Bandai Namco has recently announced a half price discount for the "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" PC version, with the game now selling for $24.99 at the Bandai Namco Store from its original $49.95 price tag.
