'Dragon Quest Heroes 2' Release Date, News Details: PC Version Confirmed; Explorer Edition Adds Weapons

Omega Force and Square Enix's role-playing hack and slash game "Dragon Quest Heroes 2" is now confirmed to be released for PCs aside from its PlayStation offerings.

The upcoming PC release was announced alongside its new trailer that explains the game's new premise - which features cousins Lazarel and Teresa, both knights-in-training, who will eventually lead the fight against the invading Dunisian Army.

According to the game's storyline, players can take the role of either Lazarel and Teresa who will fight alongside several heroes (most of them are recurring characters from the game franchise) against an army led by their old friend, Prince Cesar.

The game is also set in a fictional world called the "Seven Realms." The players can explore its different locations but are cautioned as there are also monsters roaming around.

Aside from Lazarel and Teresa, players can also take the role of a mighty Warrior, a holy Priest, a devious Thief, a devastating Gladiator or a benevolent Sage and more throughout the course of the game.

Aside from switching roles, "Dragon Quest Heroes 2" also allows online cooperative gameplay with up to four partner-players. There are also special maps and missions once players finish the main storyline of the game.

The developers also unveiled an Explorers Edition of "Dragon Quest Heroes 2" which includes around 15 weapons via downloadable content expansions.

These include a Slime Knight's Shield that lets healstones replenish one's health more efficiently, gloves that can improve power and shielding abilities such as Great Sabreclaws and Golem Gauntlets, swords such as the Shadowblade, Robo-Razor and Gem Slide Sword, and many other types of weapons.

"Dragon Quest Heroes 2" is slated for an April 25 release in the U.S. for PS4 players. The game will also be released on April 28 for PS4 players in European territories. The PC version of the game will likewise be made available worldwide via Steam on April 25.

Players in Japan have already received the PS3, PS Vita and PS4 versions of the game in May 2016. However, the Nintendo Switch version is also set to be launched in the Asian country on March 3.
