'Dragon Quest XI' News: Devs Detail How Exploration and Camping Work Inside the New RPG

Certain fields and areas inside 'Dragon Quest XI' may look and work different depending on when players explore them

Role-playing game fans who have seen some of "Dragon Quest XI" in previously published videos have likely already noticed just how much better-looking the new game's environments are compared to previous installments of the franchise. But beyond that, these locations remain highly interesting for the sake of exploration as well.

The folks at Square Enix recently updated the game's official website and filled it up with some more details, and Gematsu has provided translations for those fans interested in learning more about this new title.

Specifically, the newly shared details shed more light on several important gameplay elements such as exploration.

Over the course of making their way through the game, players can apparently count on seeing different fields. These fields can feature various types of plant and animal life. Fields may also differ significantly depending on which time players explore them, so that's something that needs to be taken into account.

Notably, there are also some areas and objects of interest scattered across these game locations that can yield some important items, giving "Dragon Quest XI" players more reasons to make sure they thoroughly check out all of them.

Players can also opt to ride horses to make their travels through these fields a bit faster.

Dungeons are also featured in the RPG, and along with monsters, these locations may also be loaded with all kinds of traps.

Once players get tired from all that exploring, they can then look for bonfires, start them up, and just set up camp right there. Players can recover HP from camping, chat with the party members, and a traveling merchant will also show up selling some important items that will be helpful for the journey ahead.

More details about the different gameplay elements of "Dragon Quest XI" should be made available soon and fans in Japan can also look forward to getting their hand on this game sometime later this year.
