Drake and Rihanna News: Rapper Sends Singer a Sweet Birthday Message Despite Breakup Reports

It has been previously reported that Drake and Rihanna had broken up. However, the rapper just recently dedicated a good amount of time in his concert tour to celebrate Rihanna's 29th birthday.

As shown in the videos shared by fans present at Drake's concert tour in Dublin, Ireland, the 'Hotline Bling" artist said, "It's somebody's birthday today — somebody I have a lot of love for and a lot of respect for."

The rapper continued, "So, instead of singing 'Happy Birthday,' though, we just going to do this in Dublin. Instead of singing 'Happy Birthday,' we're going to set it off just like this..." The next thing that fans knew, Drake and Rihanna's song "Work" started playing.

Rumors about Rihanna and Drake's relationship started to surface in July 2016. But according to a source cited by PEOPLE magazine at the time, the music artists started dating some time prior to that.

PEOPLE magazine's source said, "They have been keeping it a secret because this time around, they want to do it right and keep their relationship private."

In the MTV Video Music Awards last August, things then got a little clearer when Drake presented the Michael Jackson Vanguard award for Rihanna. The moment turned into something more than an award presentation when Drake concluded his speech by declaring his love for the pop singer.

Fans lost it when Drake admitted: "She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old. She's one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life I've looked up to her even though she's younger than me. She's a living, breathing legend in our industry." Drake was 29 years old during the MTV VMA 2016.

However, breakup rumors started to surface when Drake was reportedly seen in a video sharing a smooch with Jennifer Lopez at a party in late December. Just around that time, Lopez also shared an Instagram photo of her and Drake getting cozy and sharing a hug.

In Lopez's recent appearance at the Ellen DeGeneres show, the "Ain't Your Mama" singer refused to give a straight answer when DeGeneres grilled her about her rumored relationship with Drake. But Lopez admitted that she and the rapper were "just hanging out" and "weren't writing a song" when the mentioned cozy photo was taken.
