Drew Barrymore Welcomes Daughter Olive

Actress Drew Barrymore and her husband Will Kopelman have welcomed their first child, a baby girl, into the world. Barrymore's representative has been busy confirming the birth of baby Olive, who was born September 26.

"We are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, born, Sept. 26th, healthy, happy and welcomed by the whole family. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this most special time in our lives," the couple told People magazine in a statement.

The couple has been together since 2011 and married this past June. Barrymore was already pregnant with baby Olive at the ceremony.

"I can't wait until I have my children," she told Haute Living. "I just want to build fun, great things for my family."

Barrymore is the latest celebrity to give birth, as Yahoo's CEO Marissa Mayer announced the arrival of her son. Of course, no one could forget that it was just a short time ago that Giuliana and Bill Rancic welcomed son Edward Duke. Barrymore's little girl will grow up having plenty of family-friendly babies to play with.

The nation was on "baby watch" the past few weeks as Barrymore continued to grow. Now that baby Olive has arrived, it's almost certain that the media will scrutinize every ounce of Barrymore's weight loss. In recent months, new mothers have turned the tables on the media and have made statements saying that they will no longer worry about their post-baby weight loss.

Jessica Simpson, mother of baby Maxwell, has perhaps been one of the most watched, and heavily criticized, new mothers dealing with weight loss. She has become the face of Weight Watchers, which she says is helping her cope with the post-pregnancy weight.

"I don't believe in completely depriving yourself," she told USA Today. Weight Watchers, she added, "wants me to be healthy. I'm not a supermodel; my body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I'm just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself."
