Drew Brees Sandy Donation: $1 Million for Super Storm Relief Efforts

Drew Brees Sandy donation is making national news headlines as the star quarterback of the New Orleans Saints pledged to give $1 million to the relief effort from the super storm. Although it has been weeks since the storm hit, recovery efforts are ongoing, with Brees' help.

Drew Brees promised to give those recovering from Sandy $1 million on a "Person to Person" interview that will air Friday. The Saints star and his wife will donate via the Dream Foundation, which they run together.

Brees revealed that he wanted to give back the same way he's been given so much, so his organization also plans to donate another $2 million to New Orleans charities.

"We want to be able to give back what's been given to us," he told Charlie Rose and Lara Logan of "Person to Person." The entire interview wasn't completely about the relief effort, however. The much-loved quarterback is also a family man.

Baylen, Bowen and Callen are Brees three sons and they're all under four. For Brees, football is not as important family.

"There's nothing like being a father," he said. "It's the greatest thing in the world … it puts everything in perspective."

Their three sons are quite active, according to Brittany Brees.

"It's a lot of testosterone in the house," she said.

The Saints quarterback also revealed his reasoning for his unselfish donation to New Orleans area charities, which will take place over the next few months. Brees said that the area has become a new home to him.

"We feel to loyal and so tied to the city," he said of New Orleans, which he has called home since 2006. "It's a very unique place. But if you love New Orleans, it'll love you back."
