'DuckTales' Latest News: Disney Launches Trailer Ahead of Revival's Premiere
Disney XD has unveiled the first-look trailer of the upcoming "DuckTales" animated series reboot. The network also announced that the revival series has already been renewed for a second season.
The trailer teases some of the animated series story, which shows Scrooge McDuck – voiced by David Tennant – coming out of retirement. The video gives viewers a taste of the comic-book-like animation style the original series was known for, and shows a few of the exciting and hilarious adventures involving Scrooge and his great-nephews, Huey (Danny Pudi), Dewey (Ben Schwartz), and Louie (Bobby Moynihan).
Based on the Emmy Award-winning series, "DuckTales" also features Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Toys Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack. Other notable cartoon characters will also appear in the upcoming animated series, including Donald Duck, Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Gizmoduck, Duckworth, Gladstone Gander, Magica DeSpell, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys.

"DuckTales has a special place in Disney's TV animation history," said Disney XD senior vice president of programming and general manager Marc Buhaj, according to Coming Soon.
"It drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks' comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation," he added.
The original "DuckTales" animated series led the daily syndicated cartoon block "The Disney Afternoon," with 100 episodes produced from 1987 until 1990. A theatrical film was also released in 1990 titled "DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp."
The revival series consists of 21 half-hour episodes and two hour-long specials. It was also recently announced that the show has been renewed for a second season ahead of the first season's premiere.
"Fans around the world are eager and we're looking forward to introducing viewers to the all-new DuckTales," Buhaj said, according to Deadline. "This early season two order is a testament to the quality work the creative team, led by Matt and Frank, and the cast are delivering," he added.
The "DuckTales" revival is set to debut in summer 2017.
