Duggar Family News: What Wedding Tradition Will Joy-Anna Be Following?
"Counting On" star Joy-Anna Duggar will be walking down the aisle soon to marry her long-time friend Austin Forsyth, and she is expected to carry on the special tradition that her mother, Michelle Duggar, started for her daughters.
When Michelle got married to Jim Bob Duggar, her mother-in-law Mary let her wear her wedding dress, according to InTouch Weekly. It was s a sweet gesture that Michelle really appreciated and wished to pass down to her daughters, but given that she has quite a number of them, she had to get creative with passing on the dress.
"This wedding dress is Grandma Duggar's and she let me wear her wedding dress on my wedding day," Michelle said in a TLC clip. "So now, the tradition has been that we've given a snippet of Grandma's and my dress to our girls for them to use in their wedding."
When Jill got married to Derick Dillard in 2014, she sewed a piece of the fabric into a handkerchief that was stuffed into her bridal bouquet. Jessa followed suit during her wedding to Ben Seewald that same year, and used a snippet of the fabric to form a rosette in her bouquet.
When it was Jinger's turn last year to wed Jeremy Vuolo, she got a little bit more creative and sewed the material into the bodice of her dress. It was located in the same spot as her own heart.
It's still uncertain what Joy-Anna plans to do with her piece of fabric, but she's likely to continue the beloved wedding tradition.
Forsyth proposed to Joy-Anna earlier this March after getting Jim Bob's permission, according to PEOPLE. Joy-Anna's dad asked Forsyth what he saw in his daughter, and the young man's reply was very touching.
"You know, over the years, I have just been watching and I really admire her heart for the Lord and her character. She's such a diligent worker. She gets all the younger siblings working. She's a good delegator. And then, of course, her beauty."
