Duggar Family News: What's Next After Cancellation of TV Show?

When the TLC Network officially announced that it was taking the reality TV show "19 Kids and Counting" off the air a few weeks ago, it seemed that even the stars of the show, the Duggar Family, were surprised at the network's decision.

The Duggar family posted a statement on their family Facebook page that talks about how their faith will pull them through this ordeal: "It is our prayer that the painful situation our family went through many years ago can point people toward faith in God and help others who also have lived through similar dark situations to find help, hope and healing, as well."

The statement barely mentioned the root of the show's cancellation, which is the child molestation scandal that the family became embroiled in recently. One of the sons, Josh Duggar, was accused of child molestation in his teens, which were not immediately disclosed by the family.

The scandal snowballed into a publicity nightmare not just for the Duggar family but also for the network. More than two months after suspending the show immediately after the news came out, the network finally decided to cancel and reports said it was mainly because the show's advertisers pulled support for the show.

TLC is developing an ad-free documentary on child sexual abuse which will bring back the Duggars and the girls who were the alleged victims, which it said it will air soon.

As for the Duggars, a Hollywood Life report has them saying that being on TV was "part of God's plan." A source also told People magazine that the family remains positive that they will be able to return to TV.

"The Duggars want to return to TV because they truly believe it was part of God's plan for them to spread the word about their faith," the insider said. The source also said that both Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were surprised that people could not put the issue rest when they themselves had already dealt with it.

According to the Cinema Blend, one of the things that family is hoping on is the development of the spin-off show which may feature the lives of daughters Jill and Jessa, who were clear fan favorites when the show was still ongoing as evidenced by the show's ratings during certain episodes.

The Hollywood Life report also mentioned the Duggars recently celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary with the rest of their family.
