'Dumb and Dumber To' News: Jim Carrey to Host SNL Prior to Movie Release, Carrey and Jeff Daniels Tweet Spoof Posters

Jim Carrey has been laying low in the spotlight, and it's been a while since the actor has starred in a film until his brief appearance as news anchor Scott Riles in "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues."

But it seems like Carrey is back in a major way as he is set to host the Oct. 25 episode of "Saturday Night Live" and will be premiering his latest movie, "Dumb and Dumber To" a few weeks after that.

According to the Inquisitr, Carrey realized a few years ago that he wanted to film a sequel to the 1994 movie "Dumb and Dumber" after watching it in a hotel room while he was traveling. The actor reportedly called the Farrelly brothers, who wrote and directed the first film, and said that he wanted to make "that kind of movie," which set the plans to film the sequel into motion.

Despite several setbacks— Carrey temporarily backed out in 2012 because he believed that Warner Bros. was not being supportive of the sequel, and Jeff Daniels threatened to quit if Carrey was not involved— the movie wrapped up filming last year, and the official trailer premiered on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' on June 10, 2014.

Recently, Carrey and Daniels tweeted two new posters for the movie, which spoofed the premise of the movie "Lucy" starring Scarlett Johanssen.

Johanssen's movie, which was about a woman with hyperintelligence, had this tagline: "The average person uses 10% of their brain capacity. Imagine what she could do with 100%."

Meanwhile, the "Dumb and Dumber To" spoof posters had this tagline: "The average person uses 10% of their brain capacity. Imagine what he could do with 1%."

Aside from Carrey and Daniels reprising their roles as Lloyd and Harry, the film also stars Rob Riggle, Rachel Melvin, Laurie Holden, Steve Tom, and Kathleen Turner. Jennifer Lawrence will also be making a cameo as a younger version of Turner's character.

"Dumb and Dumber To" will premiere on Nov. 14, 2014.
