Dustin Hoffman Says the Oscars Are 'Boring'
It looks like two-time Academy Award winning actor Dustin Hoffman would rather skip all the melodramatics and just pick up his award. In an interview with Maxim magazine, the actor explains how he really feels about the popular ceremony.
"It's boring!" he said, when the men's magazine asked him about the show. "It lasts forever, and don't think you're seeing spontaneous behavior. You see couples who are suddenly smooching, and, well, there's a guy sitting on the ground with the camera at their knees."
Hoffman said he once devised a plan that would have thrown a wrench in the show's lack of spontaneity, but opted out after he was persuaded not to take the risk.

"There was one particular time I knew I wasn't going to win, and when they'd train the camera on me as one of the losers, I wanted to be able to rip open my tuxedo shirt and just have stenciled on my chest, oh, s---," Hoffman said. "But my wife wouldn't let me do it."
Hoffman, 74, has been nominated for the Best Actor Oscar a total of seven times. He won for his performance in 1979's "Kramer Vs. Kramer" with fellow veteran actor Meryl Streep and again for "Rain Man" opposite Tom Cruise in 1988.
But it seems Hoffman has always taken the Academy Awards with a grain of salt.
"He has no genitalia and he's holding a sword," Hoffman joked in 1980 during his acceptance speech for "Kramer Vs. Kramer." "I'd like thank my parents for not practicing birth control," he added.
Hoffman is currently starring in the new HBO series "Luck," an edgy drama about the world of horse racing.
"On the surface it's about horse racing but underneath that it's about what luck really is, which is -- do you wake up in the morning? Do you have another day in front of you? All the things you take for granted you should not," Hoffman told ontheredcarpet.com of the new series.
