Dwayne Wade's Ex-Wife Isn't Crazy, Judge Says
Siohvaughn Funches, the ex-wife of Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade, recently had a major turn of events in the ongoing custody battle for their two children.
While Wade attempted to have Funches undergo a mental evaluation and reduce the time that she spent with their two sons, The Third District Court of Appeals recently ruled against the basketball star, according to gossipextra.com.
Funches' lawyer, Lisa Macci, spoke about the appeals court decisions that also assigned a new judge to the case that may be more impartial to Wade's celebrity status.
"We're getting a new judge and the order that Siohvaughn undergo a psychological evaluation is no more," Macci said, according to Gossip Extra. "Justice prevailed. I'm just happy the appeals court was not swayed by (Wade's) celebrity status as law should not be."
Earlier this year Funches was spotted holding up a cardboard sign while sitting on the streets of Chicago, according to Deadspin reports.
"NBA Miami Heat Star Mother of His Children On The Streets," Funches' sign says, in a photograph featured on Deadspin.com. Earlier this month, Wade's ex-wife sued the 31-year-old Miami guard for some of the finances gained from his endorsement deals.
While the Chicago Sun Times reported that Funches was awarded $5 million earlier this year, a Chicago mansion and four cars from her divorce settlement with Wade, the NBA star had a few things to say on Instagram after her protest this past summer.
"#REALLY #whatyoutalkingaboutwillis #aintnobodygottimeforthat," Wade wrote on the social media picture sharing website. "I had my headphones on..Did y'all hear something????..#stopit #dontbefooled #storiessellpapers #movingon."
Although Wade did not mention Funches by name, his cryptic messages came soon after his ex-wife was pictured on the streets of Chicago. Although he has yet to speak on the recent ruling the NBA player's lawyer James Pritikin spoke about having an issue with Funches not taking homelessness seriously during her protest against Wade.
"Ms. Funches has made a mockery of homelessness which is a serious and personal issue for Mr. Wade as his mother was homeless for a period of time when he was a child," Pritikin told The New York Daily News. "Despite false allegations by Ms. Funches claiming to be 'homeless' and 'destitute,' Dwyane Wade has maintained over the years financial support to his ex-wife by providing her with income over $25,000 on a monthly basis, timely paid for her home mortgage, maintenance and security at the house, four cars, insurance, taxes and all of her attorney fees throughout this process."
