Eddie Redmayne Stalker Slapped With Restraining Order and Suspended Jail Sentence

Eddie Redmayne's stalker has been handed a four-month suspended jail sentence and a restraining order.

Gaby Steiger, 49, pleaded guilty to stalking the English actor over the span of five years at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court in London, reports confirmed. She was given a four-month suspended jail sentence and was ordered not to have any contact with Redmayne or his immediate family. In addition, she was not allowed to come within 200 meters of the actor.

Originally from Colindale, north London, Steiger believed she and Redmayne had been married in her past life. Her face would allegedly "contort with rage" when she talked about Redmayne's wife, Hannah Bagshawe.

The mother-of-three first saw Redmayne on stage at the Donmar Warehouse in Covent Garden back in 2012. After a year, she started dropping by the set of Redmayne's film, "The Theory of Everything" and asking Redmayne to pose with her in a picture.

Redmayne's family became involved in December 2013 when Steiger followed him and Bagshawe to a carol service. She was even spotted staring at him in a photograph taken by a fan during the event.

Things got worse when she started loitering outside Redmayne's home in south London. On one occasion, Steiger followed Redmayne to his local Tube station to ask him for a hug. The 35-year-old claimed he repeatedly told Steiger to stay away, but only decided to take legal actions when she tried to touch him while he was outside his home with his daughter Iris.

"When you do a play as an actor you meet people waiting outside who have come a long way to see it," Redmayne wrote in a statement that was read out in court. "They are often friendly and give gifts. You try to be open and friendly with them."

He added, "I deeply regret having met Gaby Steiger at the Donmar Warehouse. She harassed myself and my family intermittently over five years, leaving us deeply unsettled."
