'Elementary' Cast News, Update: Shohreh Aghdashloo Joins Season 4 As Papa Holmes' Associate
CBS' hit TV series "Elementary" is slated to feature Sherlock Holmes' (Jonny Lee Miller) estranged father in its upcoming fourth season and new casting reports indicate a new actress joining the show as Papa Holmes' associate.
The report from TVLine said that Shohreh Aghdashloo will appear as a guest-star in Season 4's Episode 3 as Donya Esfandiari. The character was described in the publication as a "glamorous international hotelier who's in negotiations with Sherlock's dad."
Aghdashloo, the site added, is meanwhile expected to appear in the upcoming space opera/mystery science-fiction drama TV series from Syfy, "The Expanse."
Speaking of Sherlock's old man, the part of whom will be played by the new series regular John Noble, the Season 3 finale revealed that the character in question is already en route to New York City. Morland's arrival follows after he found out that his son has once again succumbed to his addiction.
Avid fans of the Arthur Conan Doyle book series-based show know that Morland isn't actually a good father to Sherlock and if it's the executive producer Rob Doherty's say, having the elderly at Brownstone won't really bring delight to the sleuth.
The showrunner teased, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that Sherlock is not particularly pleased with the "attention or the distraction" that Morland represents.
"For him, it's too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I'd say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock's father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby," he told EW.
Doherty, however, points out to the publication that despite the unpleasant imagery that Sherlock tries to paint of his father, fans should still be able to credit Morland's persistent effort to "help his son during a difficult time."
